We want
you to enjoy your Carriage Candles and use them safely.
Please review these tips to ensure your maximum pleasure
and protection.
- Remove all packaging before lighting.
- Always place candles on nonporous, flat, flame-retardant
surfaces.
- Burn your candle for only two to three hours at a
time for the best burn
time.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out
of reach from children and pets and ensure everyone
in the family understands the rules of safe candle
use.
- Never let children play with candles.
- Do not move or tilt a burning candle. Glass containers
may be hot.
- Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Never
burn candles near a draft, vent or air current (ceiling
fans can cause drafts) and avoid excessive vibrations.
- Keep wicks trimmed to one-eighth to one-quarter inch
at all times. If you accidentally trim the wick too
short, carefully dig out a small amount around each
wick and relight.
- Do not continue to burn the candle when the wax content
is less than a half-inch from the container bottom
to prevent possible heat damage to the counter or surface.
Candlewicks normally trim naturally at about three-eighths
of an inch at a time.
- If the candle begins to smoke, extinguish the candle.
Then trim the wick, remove the trimmings and relight
the candle.
- If you have a smoky smell after extinguishing the
candle, use a candlesnuffer. Or, push the ends of the
wicks, one at a time, into the melted wax pool with
a toothpick. This will extinguish the candles and eliminate
the smoke.
- Always check the jar for cracks, chips or hairline
fractures and discontinue use if damaged.
- Keep the wax pool clean and free of matches, wick
trimmings and other debris.
- Carefully extinguish the candle before replacing
the lid. Never use the lid to extinguish the candle
or to use as a placeholder. One of the safest ways
to extinguish a candle is to use a candlesnuffer or
wick dipper, which helps prevent hot wax from spattering.
Never use water to extinguish the candle, as water
can cause the hot wax to spatter and make the jar break.
- Candles will fade if left in direct sunlight or spotlights
for extended periods of time.
